❧ The Protocol
The details you need to know
Your collagen, on assignment
After numbing, the SkinPen microneedling device creates thousands of micro channels across the treatment area. The skin responds with fresh collagen and elastin over the following weeks. The result is structural: smoother texture, softened scarring, and firmness.
Scarring, lines, and the texture obsessed
Microneedling is our first recommendation for acne scarring and one of our favorites for early aging. It is safe for all skin tones, since it works mechanically rather than with heat or light.
A weekend of pink, a season of payoff
Expect the look of a sunburn for one to three days, with simple aftercare we send you home with. Collagen remodeling continues for weeks, so results keep improving between sessions. Photos at the beginning and end of your series will track your progress.

❧ Questions, answered
Before you book
Is microneedling painful? +
We numb thoroughly before we begin, and most clients describe the treatment as a vibrating pressure rather than pain. Certain areas, the forehead especially, register more than the cheeks, but the whole experience is far more tolerable than the word needle suggests.
Any tenderness fades quickly once we finish, replaced by the warmth of a mild sunburn. Clients are routinely surprised by how easy it was, usually right before they book the next one.
When will I see results? +
Texture often looks refreshed within the first week, once the initial pinkness resolves into an early glow. That first payoff is real, but it is the preview, not the feature.
The meaningful change appears over the following four to six weeks as new collagen matures, and it compounds across the series: firmer skin, softened scarring, refined pores. Many clients keep improving for months after their final session, which is the quiet advantage of a treatment that rebuilds rather than resurfaces.
Can it treat acne scarring? +
Yes. Microneedling is among the best studied treatments for atrophic acne scarring, the pitted and rolling scars acne leaves behind. It works by breaking down disorganized scar tissue while stimulating fresh, properly structured collagen in its place.
Depth and settings are tailored to your scarring at consultation, and we will tell you honestly what a series can and cannot do. Deeper scarring takes more sessions, progress is documented in photos, and for graduates of our Acne Healing Program this is the natural next chapter.
How do I prepare for microneedling? +
Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids for several days beforehand, arrive without makeup if possible, and avoid tanning or fresh sunburn in the week prior, since we only needle healthy, uncompromised skin.
Let us know about any active breakout or cold sore in the treatment area so we can reschedule around it, and mention recent injectables, since those need a comfortable buffer before needling. The full prep list arrives with your booking confirmation, so nothing relies on memory.
What is the aftercare? +
Simple and non negotiable: the gentle products we send you home with and nothing else for the first few days, no makeup for the first day or so, and no retinoids, acids, or vitamin C until we clear them. Your skin has thousands of tiny open channels; we keep the guest list short.
Skip heavy sweat, saunas, and hot yoga for the first day or two, since heat feeds inflammation, and wear SPF diligently once cleared. Skin looks like a sunburn briefly, then gets on with the business of rebuilding.
Can I add PDRN to my microneedling? +
Yes, and for age management and scarring goals we recommend it. PDRN is a regenerative molecule, polynucleotides derived from purified salmon DNA, applied through the open microchannels where it accelerates repair and amplifies collagen production.
SkinPen with PDRN is its own entry in the Index and the backbone treatment of our Regenerative Program. Same collagen induction, considerably more ambition.
Should I choose microneedling or laser? +
Different instruments for different jobs. Microneedling rebuilds texture, scarring, and firmness mechanically, with no heat involved, which also makes it safe for every skin tone. The Aerolase Neo treats redness, acne bacteria, and tone with light, and asks for zero downtime in return.
Most age management and scarring plans eventually use both, sequenced so each treatment sets up the next. Your consultation, with imaging, settles the order, so you are never guessing which appointment comes first.
Who is not a candidate? +
Pregnancy, certain medications, active breakouts or cold sores in the treatment area, and a handful of skin conditions call for waiting or for an alternative. All of it is screened at your consultation, before a single needle is involved.
Expecting mothers usually visit the Maman facial until baby arrives, flares are simply rescheduled around, and if microneedling is not right for you, something on the Index will be. We would rather redirect you well than treat you wrong.
